Cafe’s Crazy Rule Makes Them Viral – Would You Do This 1 Thing For A Free Coffee?

Now this is how you earn a free coffee!

Coffee Milano Cafe recently posted a sign that said: “Want a FREE COFFEE?? Walk in and give us your BEST Dance moves for 5 seconds!!” And it turns out the residents of Middleborough, Mass., were not about to let shyness stop them from a free drink. Even when those dance moves would land them on TikTok, helping make their favorite cafe go viral.

The store, which let customers know they would be recorded for social media, became a hit sensation online as people danced their way into the coffee store, one-by-one. A video the cafe posted to TikTok was set to Los del Río’s “Macarena” and a woman enters and kicks off her shoes to dance her way to the counter.

@coffeemilanocafe Dancing is good for the soul.. and a free coffee! This made our day! Thank you! #dancing #freedrinks #cafe #coffeeshop #event #fyp #restaurantlife #baristalife #barista #coffee #coffeetime #dancechallenge #viral ♬ original sound – Christina Dean

That was quickly followed by people doing Irish jigs, waltzes, flossing, creating a conga line with friend and more. Moms and babies, groups of friends and married couples are joined in on the fun.

The happiness of the dancers wasn’t lost on TikTok commentors, either. The video, one of the cafe’s many, had more than 7 million views and 15,000 comments. “This is such a good way to spread positivity,” one user said. Others applauded the creativity of the dancers.

Girl took off her shoes and moonwalked! She deserved 2 cups,” they wrote.

Josh Rashid, the cafe’s owner, said he got the plan for this from another business who did something similar. “We saw a pizza shop do it. And I’m like, ‘Let’s do that for coffee,” he said. “Whoever shows up and dances gets a free coffee.” So, the very next day, the promotion was posted on Facebook and a sign put on the cafe’s front door.

“We had probably 15, 20 people show up and dance for us,” Rashid said. “It was kind of cool.” Rashid said the response has been overwhelmingly positive. “You know, life isn’t always easy,” he said. “Sometimes you just see something that puts the greatest smile on your face, and it brings tears to your eyes.”

Coffee Milano Cafe plans to continue the promotion, likely a few days a month. After all, everyone needs a bit of happiness these days, and dancing can cure the blues. “Just keep dancing,” Rashid said. “Enjoy life. It’s short. It’s fun. We have good days, we have bad days, but sometimes a coffee and a dance makes it all better.”
